Names

When is about memorizing names, well, my memory doesn't look very well trained... I've heard once that people who wear nicknames have inappropriate names. When some people are introduced, and say their names, sometime later you either remember his or her name when you two meet, or not! So I draw the conclusion that like nicknames, physiognomy is also related to a person's name. If the name is appropriate for that person, you will remember her or his name. Otherwise you will not! What do you think?

Faithless - Insomnia

According to Wikipedia, the song features Maxi Jazz singing as an insomniac while he struggles to sleep ("I toss and I turn without cease, like a curse, open my eyes and rise like yeast/At least a couple of weeks since I last slept, kept takin' sleepers, but now I keep myself pepped").

The subject is resonant with fans of dance music, since stimulant use is common in club/rave culture, and insomnia a normal side effect. The insomniac is also rather destitute ("Make my way to the refrigerator/One dry potato inside, no lie, not even bread, jam...").

On Pain by Khalil Gibran

A few lines from the poem On Pain by Khalil Gibran draw my attention:

Much of your pain is self-chosen.
It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.
Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility.

One can find the entire poem at Poem Hunter.

I search for an appropriate video on YouTube, so here it is:

Sleepless Bobby

Hello, my dear friends and foes!

I've started recently a blog with a similar name in Romanian language, because it is my native language, and sometimes I feel to write down some thoughts. Romanian is quite a difficult language, with a grammar similar to French, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese, all of them derived from the Latin language. I am writing these in order to explain that there is no use to try to translate the other blog, Noctambulul, using automated translators, because they will only translate the words, and the meanings will be lost...

Lost in translation... This is actually the title of a great movie directed and written by Sofia Coppola, starring Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson. There are a few good trailers available on the web, but this one seems to be the perfect match between the movie scenes and the selected music (Insomnia by Electric President):

The title of the above trailer has a similar name with my blog: Insomnia. Sleepless Bobby is me. I am not actually a sleepless or an insomniac, and I do not have sleep disorder problems (yet), but due to my working hours (I am working in shifts), I have unusual sleeping hours. Usually I am going to bed between 2 and 5 AM, sometimes right after coming back from night shift, meaning around 7:30 AM.

In the Romanian version I've explained some problems that people who work in shifts might have. In order to read more about this, searching the web for "Shift Work Sleep Disorder" will display some interesting sites that are dealing with this issue.

This blog is not intended to post sleep disorder problems, but issues that come into my mind at hours that the Common People usually sleep... I do not intend to post on a regular basis neither.

Take care!
