Danube and Some Rain Clouds Nearby

Quite a pretty day today on the Danube's left bank!
Though, one could spot some rain clouds nearby.
I captured some of them with my cell phone...

A Grey Day

The other day I was on a short trip by car, along with my daughter, around Malovăţ, near our city.
My daughter.
After some 15 km away from the city, we've spotted a high ground that allowed us to make some nice panoramas.
Near Bârda
Near Bârda
Three Brothers.
Rose hips.
Rose hips.
I must admit that I was completely unprepared. After just a few photos, my batteries must be replaced. All the other three pairs were discharged, so from this moment on I was only a car driver.

Anyway after some 5 km more, another place made us pull over, and this time I was using the camera of my cell phone.
Blue flowers.
A view towards Pârlage.
The sun broke the skies for just a few minutes.

Craving for the sun.

Although it was grey, it was also a great day! A great day for taking photos.

Winter Sunset

After a few days with temperatures recording many degrees (Celsius around here) over zero, the snow is only visible on the top of the distant mountains, and "palpable" on some dark corners where it was previously concealed during its removal.

The other day I was driving back home, only the sunset didn't let me drive in peace, so I pulled on the right side of the road in order to shot a couple of pictures on the Danube River left bank.

Frozen Melted Snow

Yes! It was snow, it melted, then it was freezing in the evening!

Three photos of the same surface (the roof of my car), in three different places, at three moments in time: 17:39, 18:05, 18:10 (Jan. 14th, 2014).

Three different colors: light blue, silver, copper.

Winter, Snow, Europe, Ukraine

Seeing my last post, I thought that it is almost a month since the year started, and there's a lack of activity on my blog. It is not such a catastrophic event, since it is not a blog with a regular update. Due to the fact that the winter is already installed in my city, probably some new winter photos might be added, so I'll post a few of them.

The first snowy night in Severin.
Google was playing with this photo adding a snowing effect.

The layer of snow was bigger the second night.
It was not snowing at that particular time that I took the picture, so the sky had a different color palette.
Well, winter in Romania, winter in other Western European countries, winter in Ukraine... In Ukraine where people are still fighting for their rights, people are still fighting to remove a dictator alike president.

Millions and millions of snowflakes blow by the wing in all directions.
My photos are fading in front of the ones of Ilya Varlamov, the journalist that went in the middle of the events that took place in Kiev on January 22nd and 23rd, at "Maidan". The following photos and many more are from Ilya's article, zyalt: Revolution in Kiev, Ukraine, written on LiveJournal.

"Actually the center of Kiev is very pretty right now."

"European square. Back when it was all starting, there was a stage here, from which politicians pontificated their smart ideas about the future of Ukraine. Now the politicians have move on to Maidan, and the European square has become the rear base of the revolution. Cars with food arrive here; old tires for the bonfires, wood, medicine and reinforcements."

Charles Ottley about Romania

Happy Anniversary, Romania!
Happy Anniversary, Romanians!
Charles Ottley is a famous British TV presenter, but can easily be considered an ambassador of Romania. ”Wild Carpathia” documentary about Romania’s known, have toured the world and placed it on the map of places to visit.

Romania and Romanians - December 1st.

Happy Anniversary, Romania!
Happy Anniversary, Romanians!

The video shows what is Romania's and Romanians' place in the world.
Could you imagine the world without Romanians?
(Probably there are some voices about some Romanians...)

Michael Faraday

Michael Faraday is the kind of scientist I am admiring.
A concise documentary presents his work and discoveries.

Below you might enjoy a funny experiment closely linked to the proposed documentary!

Computer Units

At the AT&T Archives are numerous instructional videos. Among these videos I've found an interesting one explaining us how a digital computer intimately works!

Off the Beaten Track

Sometimes, a flash thought drives us off the beaten track. A while ago (it was April or May I think) I left E70 on my way back from Timisoara. I just saw a sign towards a church, situated not very far from the main road, in Fenes village, near Armenis, Caras-Severin county, Romania. Well, it isn't much to talk about the church itself, but the landscape was... Well I'll not describe it, instead I'll post the photos! Enjoy!

Office Set

From one magazine to another, here am I in front of LEXON - design in life 2013 - catalog. Well, it would be a selfish gesture from me to keep the info for myself. Being "struck" by a straight line design, I thought that every methodical person should possess this desk set of accessories. This office set comprises a tape dispenser, calculator, USB hub, stapler, hole punch, clock, calendar, and a magnifying glass.
Picture taken from: http://red-dot.de/pd/wp-content/uploads/onex_2012/big/13-0921-2012-1.jpg
In order to reveal the entire information, I will take it methodically.

  • First step was taken by opening the issuu website, where issuu is:
A world of publications.

For you, created by you.

    • LEXON, an international designers team, two corporate teams, numerous awards...
Since 1991, Lexon has established a granted relationship with Creativity.

Above all, it is about making an object enjoyable for its daily use.

    • Check out other products designed by Adrian Wright and Jeremy Wright simply by visiting their website, DesignWright.
That's all I have to say! What is your opinion on this?

    Google Storage

Reaching recently some 30% of my 10GB free email account from Google, I cleared up some space by saving on my local drive some attachments, and then deleting some old and unimportant emails. The very next day or so, my Inbox being cleared also by archiving all the emails (available under "All Mail"), I've noticed that 10 was replaced by 15GB!
There is also a link called Manage, which I didn't notice by now, so I clicked it. That action opened a very useful page, called Drive storage. On this page it is indicated "Total storage", and possible extension plans for your account. The plans are starting from 100GB for $4.99/month, and ending with 16TB (the rough equivalent of 1,000 free accounts) for $799.99/month.
The more important thing to consider for a free account is mentioned on the lower part of the page.
    • Google Drive: Store files up to 10GB each. Anything you create with Docs, Sheets, or Slides won’t use up any of your storage.
    • Gmail: Attachments sent and received in Gmail as well as your email messages use your storage.
    • Google+ Photos: Photos bigger than 2048x2048 pixels use your storage. Everything smaller than that is free.
Since its beginning, I am fully enjoying the Google experience! It may not be as eye-catching, or as visual, or transparent in terms of the provided services as others, but Google is definitely a platform to sign up for!

UPDATE: There's a new Gmail inbox starting today (June, the 20th, 2013):

    • organized into categories,
    • easy to customize,
    • available on your mobile device.
